What we fix

All types offence repair

From a single broken panel to a whole run of storm damage — we handle it all.

Storm & wind damage

After a big storm, we typically see whole fence sections blown over, snapped arris rails and panels lifted out of their slots. We can replace individual posts and panels or re-erect entire runs, matching existing materials where possible.

Rotten post replacement

The post rotting at ground level is the most common fence failure. We excavate the old post, re-concrete a new one in place and reattach the existing panels and rails — often half the cost of a full replacement.

Broken panel replacement

Individual panels can be matched and replaced without touching the rest of the fence. We carry a good range of common panel sizes and styles on the van, so many single-panel replacements are done in a single visit.

Gravel board replacement

Gravel boards rot before the fence boards because they sit at ground level. Replacing them before they fail completely protects the whole fence above. We use concrete gravel boards on all repairs to stop the cycle.

Leaning or unstable fence

A fence leaning significantly has a post failing underground. We dig down to assess — sometimes a concrete spur bolted to the existing post is enough to save it; sometimes the post needs coming out fully. We will tell you which on the day.

Full section replacement

When a run of fence is beyond economic repair — too much rot, too many broken components — we strip it back and rebuild from scratch. We offer full replacement in closeboard, panel or any style to match your garden.

Our approach

Why we use concreteposts on every repair

When we replace a post, we always use a concrete post — not a timber one. It costs a little more upfront but it is the right thing to do. The post is the part of the fence most likely to fail; putting a timber post back in the same hole is just delaying the same repair by a few years.

We set all posts in fresh concrete and do not attach the fence panels until the concrete has had time to go off. Some companies skip this step to get through jobs faster — posts set in wet concrete that are immediately loaded tend to move slightly as the concrete cures, and the fence ends up with a slight lean. We set, cure, then fix.

We are also honest about when a repair is not the right call. If a fence is at the point where the total repair cost exceeds 60–70% of replacement, we will tell you — and give you a replacement quote alongside the repair quote so you can make an informed decision. Depending on your garden, that might be new panels on existing posts or a full closeboard rebuild.

Common questions

Fence repairquestions answered

How quickly can you come out to repair my fence?+
We aim to visit for a free quote within a couple of days of your call — usually faster in quieter periods. After you accept the quote, most standard repairs (a single post, two or three panels) are booked within one to two weeks. During storm season across Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard, demand spikes and lead times can stretch slightly, but we will always be upfront about when we can get to you.
Can you match my existing fence panels?+
In most cases, yes. Standard lap panels come in a handful of sizes (4ft, 5ft, 6ft high, in 6ft wide sections) and styles, and we keep common sizes on the van. Older or non-standard panels can be harder to match exactly — if we cannot get a like-for-like replacement, we will tell you and discuss your options before starting work.
My neighbour is responsible for the fence — do you deal with joint repairs?+
We just do the work — the boundary ownership question is between you and your neighbour. The deeds to your property should show which side each party owns. If it is a shared repair, it is useful to have both parties' agreement before we quote, but we can quote to just one side of the arrangement if needed.
Is it worth repairing my fence or should I just replace it?+
That depends on the age and condition of the rest of the fence. If you have one rotten post on an otherwise solid 8-year-old closeboard fence, repair is absolutely the right call. If you have a 20-year-old panel fence with multiple failing posts, soft gravel boards and panels warping — the repair cost will exceed 50% of replacement, and you will be back in the same position within a few years. We will give you an honest view at the survey stage.
Do I need to be at home for the repair?+
Not necessarily, as long as we have access to the garden. Many of our customers leave a gate key or make other arrangements. We will confirm what access is needed when we book the job.
